i need help

conceptualsolitude:

my situation has become pretty desperate – i am finally moving out of my abusive home!! while i am much better than i was last year, i need to go through with this in the next two weeks, i am very mentally ill, and i have about $6 to my name.

  • i have no money for rent, bills, medication, or food. i’ve been unable for work for a few months and have been scraping by with what i can
  • i desperately need to go back to regularly seeing a psychologist, and i currently owe them money as is
  • i’m a full time australian uni student and seeking help from centrelink (and you probably know what that’s like) but it’s still processing and i just don’t have the time to wait, and i may be rejected.
  • my younger sibling will remain here, and i want to be able to help them in any way when i am not there – they are young and very vulnerable, and i am terrified of leaving them. they need psychiatric support to manage the environment without me
  • i will be working again very soon and i’m looking for a second job, but i am still trying to manage my own mental illnesses

i just need help with the next few weeks – if anyone can help me, i would be extremely grateful. i need to get out of this environment as soon as possible, and the wonderful people i’m moving in with need someone paying rent in two weeks’ time.

i have released a pay-as-you-want online poetry chapbook, if you’re into that. otherwise this is my paypal if you can help me out at all.

thank you very much for reading. reblogging is very appreciated. if you have any questions please message me. thank you thank you thank you

Harrison Ford goes out into his backyard. He looks up at the stars and finds the brightest one. He shakes his head as he speaks. “You just had to tell them we slept together, didn’t you?” Carrie Fisher emerges in the sky like Mufasa and looks down on Harrison Ford before flipping him off.

Reblogging again because somebody drew it.

10 Writing Resources: Characters

From the basics to the very in-depth, these are some of the resources I go to when I’m developing new characters. Have a look at my favorites, and add your own!

1. 25 Things About Creating Characters

As a writer, creating characters is probably the most important thing you do. Get it wrong, and the story will be wrong no matter how well plotted.

2. Lessons From James Scott Bell: Characters That Jump Off The Page

Readers are engaged by characters who do not always act in a predictable way. Think of how to have your character make decisions or respond in ways the reader won’t see coming.

3. Crafting Memorable Characters

Successful main characters are the agents of their own destiny, they are someone we root for, and they grow or change during the course of the novel.

4. 6 Must-Know Tricks for Getting to Know Your Characters

Most of us don’t start writing until we’ve come up with a character we just adore. But how can we make sure this character will also be adored by our readers?

5. Creating Your Hero’s Fatal Flaw

The most intriguing conflicts are the ones that come from within people’s own personalities.

6. Five Unrealistic Character Traits

These characters have traits that are so unrealistic, the audience starts thinking about the author’s intention rather than the story at hand.

7. 100 Character Development Questions for Writers

Answer these in character, but only in a situation where your character would be 100% honest with themselves and with the person asking the question.

8. Writing Crutches: Gestures

What are gesture crutches, and why should we avoid them?

9. The Path to Deepening Your Protagonist

Protagonists don’t write themselves. No character does. So why leave trait-choice up to the character?

10. Nine Kick-Ass Excercises to Find Your Character’s Voice

Creating unique voices for each viewpoint character is essential in creating fiction readers want to read over and over.

What about you? What are your favorite blog posts about creating characters?

I can’t speak for any other writers or artists, or the show’s intention, none but my own– but lapis and peridot, I wanted to create the experience of a growing queer relationship. Again- this is only my intention. Can’t speak for anyone else! Many people are writing those episodes. But. I don’t want to have people have to sit down and put together puzzle pieces to see if they were represented. Not in this day and age. That game is so tiring. As for amethyst and peridot, again, this is only my writing intention, I wanted the feeling of a “first time crush” that you go on to then be close intimate friends.  Anyone who wants to see the narrative they want is completely, 100% allowed to.

But I wanted to close the book on this- I am queer, and intend fully to write queer characters when I do.

Lauren Zuke, I love you, and I’m super excited to be able to keep watching the episodes you have worked on.

Winter Angst with Happy Ending

Promts for winter angst that ends OK?

  1. Ice breaks under the character but they’re saved and there are blankets and hot chocolate and warmth.
  2. The character can’t afford to pay for their utilities at the moment, and they’re worried they may end up with heat in winter, but their landlord/landlady is sympathetic and even invites them for a dinner.
  3. The character slips on ice and injures themselves, but someone helps them and it’s a start of a friendship or romance.
  4. The character can’t return home because of the weather, but they find new friends thanks to that.
  5. The character decides to visit someone despite the snow and cold, and the journey is dangerous, but it’s worth it in the end.
  6. The character finds outside an animal too small to survive the winter and they decide to help.
  7. The pipes in the character’s house freeze and break and an unlikely person offers help.
  8. The character gets lost in a snow storm but stumble upon a pleasant place to hide from the weather.
  9.  The character ends up without a place to stay in winter, but someone helps.
  10. There’s no snow and the character is upset, but someone helps and creates a winter wonderland for them.
