PSA to straight ppl: if you’re annoyed at how much a gay person talks about how gay they are because ‘it shouldn’t matter’, then sit down, I need to explain a thing to you: it does matter. We’re raised in a culture that teaches us that being gay is a bad thing. That we are disgusting/jokes to be laughed at/wrong, etc etc. This makes it extremely hard for many of us to accept that we’re gay. So if you see a person who is constantly talking about how gay they are, that’s an extremely powerful thing, because it’s a testament to how much they’ve had to overcome to accept and love themselves and the fact that they’re gay. Don’t go saying shit like ‘ummmmm we get that you’re gay, stop talking about it.’ Like, you’re likely saying that to someone who couldn’t talk about it for a large portion of their lives. Stop.
why do straight ppl think they can whine about gay ppl “throwing their sexuality in our faces” when almost every waking second of every minute of every day of my life is filled with heterosexual romance media and heteronormativity. like u think 2 girls holding hands in public is rubbing their sexuality in ur face you have no fucking idea what queer people go through on a daily basis shut the fuck up
Straight People: (spend literally centuries erasing the histories of queer people who made themselves known and pressuring the rest with threat of violence to the point where they’re forced to keep it a secret their whole lives)
Straight People: whats with this RECENT FAD where everyones SUDDENLY GAY
I think freedom of sexuality is something that we all need and very few of us have
I think sexual pleasure is a legitimate thing to want and ethically pursue
I do not judge people for the (consensual) sex that they have or want
I will not tolerate slut-shaming
I will not tolerate hatred of people based on gender or orientation (including asexual)
I will not tolerate hatred of sex workers
I believe comprehensive, honest, non-judgmental sex education is necessary for public health and happiness
I think understanding of sexual consent—what it is, why it matters—is sorely lacking in society and crucially important
I reject preconceptions of what kind of sexuality a person should have, whether these preconceptions are based on gender, age, culture, disability, survivor status, or basically anything else
I value people’s individual freedom of choice in determining their sex lives (including the choices not to have sex)
What I Don’t Mean
Everyone should have sex
Everyone should have kinky, non-monogamous, exhibitionistic, pansexual sex
Accepting someone’s sexuality means you have to participate in it, watch them engage in it, or hear about it in detail
colour-code your infants so strangers know what their genitals look like
this is THE WORST idea anyone has ever had on this site. ever.
yeah you’re right……haha……..imagine some sort of dystopia where newborns were dressed in certain colours according to their genitals……….jeez……..how fucked up would that be……..how could I have ever come up with something so silly
Hi. My name is Kasia Babis. Some time ago my anti-stereotypes poster
went viral all around social media. Now I would like to use that
attention to build awareness about what is happening right now in
Poland. The Polish parliament has decided to proceed with a bill
that directly attacks women by banning abortion with no exceptions, as
well as criminalizing both abortion procedures and miscarriages. A wave
of protest has broken out in Poland, and is branded with the hashtag #blackprotest (#czarnyprotest) to express our rage and dissent.
This drive to take away fundamental human rights from women will
eventually affect all of us in the future if we allow it to spread.
Please express your solidarity in any way you can. Right now, the
basic form of protest consists of uploading pictures of yourself wearing
black clothes onto social media with the hashtag #blackprotest /
#czarnyprotest, which is trending and gaining visibility around the
world. We will be extremely grateful for your help raising
international awareness of the situation in Poland by publishing your
own expression of dissent on your webpage or social media profile.
